Guide to the UK
The second largest city in England, Birmingham is known for its heavy industrial past, but is now gaining fame as a culturally diverse, forward looking and fast-paced city. There are many museums and art galleries worth a browse, as well as other cultural venues such as the massive National Exhibition Centre, a zoo and aquarium; and many parks in which to while away the hours. Birmingham now boasts some of the best shopping in the country, in such noticeable venues as the striking Selfridges store, and the city centre is currently experiencing massive regeneration and investment.
