Guide to the UK
Leicester is familiar to most Britons as the home of Walkers crisps. In amongst its predominantly modern, anonymous cityscape can be found examples of its long history. The fourteenth century Guildhall, the Newarke houses and gardens, and Belgrave Hall are among its hidden treasures. In contrast, the National Space Science Centre provides an insight into our place in the Universe, and contains Britain’s most advanced Planetarium. Also worth visiting are the Eco House which showcases environmentally sustainable living, and the Jewry Wall Museum on the site of a Roman bath house, complete with mosaic pavements and frescos.
