Peterborough

The ancient city of Peterborough stands an object example of exemplary mid-twentieth century large scale town planning. Although the town had enjoyed status as a major industrial centre since the mid-nineteenth century, the 1960’s and 70’s witnessed massive investment in infrastructure resulting in a prosperous modern space. The city hosts a vitally important Bronze Age site in Flag Fen, a Norman cathedral, and Thorpe Hall, a fine example of Cromwell-era architecture. Citizens and visitors are also free to make use of the 2000 acre Nene Park and the many leisure activities provided therein.
