Guide to the UK
The city of Kingston-upon-Hull, once a thriving North Sea shipping port, is still an important passenger portal to the Netherlands and Belgium. The river Humber which serves the city has been spanned by a most impressive suspension bridge since 1981. Hull’s history and that of the Humber crossing are comprehensively examined through the city’s various museums. Also of interest to the visitor are attractions such as The Deep, a submarine aquarium experience boasting Europe’s deepest viewing tunnel; Little Monkey’s Funhouse; and Wilberforce House, birthplace of the anti-slavery campaigner William Wilberforce.
