Stockport
The former archetypal northern textile producing centre of Stockport is now another major retail destination, complete with mall. The town used to be famous for hat production and now houses a dedicated hat museum, the Hat Works. The area also has a fine Tudor Manor House, Bramall Hall; an art gallery and war memorial, and the opportunity to explore the network of tunnels beneath the town used as shelter during the Second World War.
