Basildon
Basildon lies some thirty miles from London, and just seven miles away from the orbital M25 motorway. Despite its proximity to the metropolis, the area contains a great deal of Essex, public space and parkland. The town is generally ‘new’ having expanded greatly in the 1960’s. The centre of Basildon is home to a 95ft, free standing, glass bell tower and the Eastgate shopping centre, which contains the fantastic Cats Cradle Pussiwillow III Clock, designed by the man responsible for the car in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
