Eastbourne

The Sussex seaside town of Eastbourne, once a thriving resort which attracted Karl Marx and George Orwell, is now known chiefly as a nice place to retire. Several miles of clean beaches and bathing water can be enjoyed there, as can such timeless attractions as the Miniature Railway Adventure Park, lots of mini golf and boat trips on the ‘Jaws’ launch. Indoor attractions include the Military Museum of Sussex, the Wish Tower Puppet Museum and the ‘How We Lived Then’ Museum of Shops. Current shopping tastes are catered for at the Enterprise Centre complex of specialist stores. Just a short walk from here lie numerous pretty parks and gardens. The town itself is set at the foot of the picturesque South Downs and alongside the famous suicide cliffs of Beachy Head.
