Guide to the UK
Part of the north London borough of Barnet, Finchley gained fame (or notoriety!) as the area represented in Parliament by Margaret Thatcher throughout her career. The area has recently benefited from much inward investment and redevelopment. A new arts centre opened in summer 2004 at Tally Ho Corner, a focal point for Finchley residents and visitors alike. Finchley also enjoys all of the amenities one would expect to find in any modern town centre – cinema, bowling alley, sports centre and chain pubs. Character is maintained amongst the large number of small independent shops.
