The south of England is a huge population centre and thrives economically in part due to its proximity to London. It includes Oxford, famous for its University which is the oldest in the English-speaking world. The city of Brighton and Hove attracts some eight million tourists every year due to its highly regarded arts festival, its conference infrastructure and its beach front location and attractions.
