Guildford

The town of Guildford lies within the county of Surrey on the banks of the river Wey, and grew as a port of call midway between London and Portsmouth. The area boasts a number of historic buildings including the seventeenth century mansion at Loseley Park and the Guild Hall, a Tudor building adorned with a finely-crafted Victorian bracket clock. The Wey, made navigable in the mid-1600’s provides visitors with boating opportunities from the centre of Guildford via the Boathouse, and the history of the waterway can be explored half a mile from there at Dapdune Wharf, a former barge-building plant.
