Hemel Hempstead

Once part of rural Hertfordshire, Hemel Hempstead has been subsumed like so much of south-eastern England into the ‘commuter belt’ which serves the capital. One fruit of the towns mid 20th century expansion is the so-called Magic Roundabout, which consists of one major roundabout served by numerous small ones. The town boasts excellent nightlife with a good mix of traditional pubs and modern bars, and shoppers are well served at the Marlowes shopping centre.
