Kingston
The royal borough of Kingston has a connection with monarchy stretching back over a millennium – indeed, the town bore witness to the coronation of seven Anglo-Saxon kings. However, the borough is far from backward looking, and lies within easy reach of three major visitor attractions – Chessington World of Adventures, Legoland Windsor and Thorpe Park. The town of Kingston is considered by many a shopping mecca. It contains the Ancient Market, the Monday Morning Market and two modern covered malls. Those wishing to explore the area’s history can take part in any of the numerous guided walks around the town, including some that take in the peaceful banks of the Thames.
